Senior Systems Engineer - JCL, MVS, UNIX, LINUX, CONTROL-M

Business Unit Overview

 

EI (Enterprise Infrastructure) India started operations in 2004 to help our partners take advantage of the global capability in providing operational support using the follow the sun model. Today the team covers multiple technologies in remote infrastructure support covering production, engineering, application and database support. EI India plays a key role in global workforce augmentation and supports all the EI verticals, including 24X7 operations in some areas. The team’s endeavour has been to provide increased value to our partners through operational excellence and innovation with a focus on stability.

 

Roles & Responsibilities

 

Service Level Management

 

Ensure all SLAs are met by monitoring and performing BIM analysis and abend recovery. Ensure that all abend recoveries are handled in a timely and accurate manner, escalations are initiated when needed. Monitor cycle execution for efficiency. Ensure that procedures continue to be appropriate and adhered to consistently. Handle difficult Work Intake requests that were passed on by junior associates.

 

Change Management

 

Maintain awareness of all change activity in your area and be familiar with changes outside your group that could affect Batch Services. Handle difficult one-time scheduling requests that were passed on by junior associates. Ensure error free processing of one-time/ad hoc scheduling requests. Actively participate in planning and execution of Disaster Recovery exercises.

 

Incident / Crisis Management

 

Keep Batch Services Leadership team informed of impacting (or potentially impacting) issues at all times. Ensure appropriate resources are quickly engaged to address impacting (or potentially impacting) issues at all times. Exhibit Active Advisor mentality to help lead the restoration of normal service operation as quickly as possible in order to minimize the adverse effect on business operations. Ensure that incidents are recovered to customers’ satisfaction and line with Service Level Agreements (SLAs).

 

Business and IT Functional Knowledge

 

Certified Scrum Master. Use internal and external product/service knowledge to help identify business solutions. Leverage in depth knowledge of tools, understanding all features and capabilities of the tools, ability to assist associates in use of tools and provide demonstrations to technical subjects. Constantly analyze department initiatives and processes to identify new opportunities. Use industry knowledge to limit disruption in services capabilities.

 

Execute Relentlessly

 

Maintain constant focus and accountability to achieve business results while managing risk. Demonstrate a strong sense of ownership, accountability and a commitment to achieving objectives. Help develop contingency plans for handling obstacles or problems. Strives for excellence in performance and surpassing established quality and productivity standards.

 

 

Candidate Description

 

List of skills required

  •  5-10 Years I.T. experience
  • Technical competency of JCL, MVS, UNIX, LINUX, CONTROL-M, Service Manager, IM, SMS

  • Considerable experience with Agile Methodoligies. Scrum Certification a plus

  • Degree in Computer Science or Computer Information Systems from an accredited college/university is a plus

  • Functional/Technical Knowledge

  • Ensures the efficient application or utilization of technology by providing solutions to daily issues, balancing investment, technology, and customer needs. l Contributes as a knowledgeable employee in specific technology areas. l Works with technology vendors/internal resources to ensure appropriate business practices. l Manages contingency coverage requirements for systems/applications.

  • Responsible for technical implementation of architectural components. l Provides technology solutions to daily issues and manages relationships to provide ongoing customer service. l Provides technical direction. l Provides leadership to teams in broad technical areas. l Looks for opportunities to recommend and  implement new technologies. l Evaluates innovative alternatives and re-use opportunities
