Job title: Database Administrator

The Purpose of the Role

As a Database Administrator, you will provide technical vision and support over critical projects as part of our strategy to expand our database service offerings. You will be part of a broader team that maintains our overall technical strategy and integrated roadmap.

  • Implement database technology solutions that meet the business requirements within the agreed upon timeframes.
  • Perform application database administration functions including database performance tuning, database application design, physical data modeling, and environment support
  • Engage with Technology Engineering and Infrastructure groups to plan and manage changes into the production environment
  • Triage and resolve database technical issues efficiently whilst mitigating the impact to the business
  • Ability to analyze technical database problems and implement solutions and/or workarounds that seek the business problem
  • Be the key technical member of the project delivery team

The Skills that are Key to this role

  • Proven expertise in data migration and replication
  • Experience in performing Oracle 12c and 19c administration preferred
  • Experience in supporting Snowflake databases/schemas
  • Experience in creating/managing users, shares, storage integrations and custom roles & privileges in Snowflake
  • Knowledge in two or more AWS cloud-based database technologies
  • Ensuring that technology solutions are aligned with our long-term architecture strategy
  • Work independently on committed deliverables and collaborate with the extended team
  • Your knowledge and experience expressed through insights and great ideas
  • Intellectually curious and love learning new skills and capabilities, e.g. new Cloud services
  • Enjoy giving to the success of your team while solving difficult technical problems
  • Enjoy finding opportunities to innovate and take thoughtful risks to get things done faster
  • Truly client-obsessed and dedicated to understanding and learning about customer needs and requirements; both external and internal
  • Confident working in an agile environment
  • Must have experience being part of on-call rotation along with other team members and be available 12/7- support during that time

Technical / Behavioral

  • Experienced Oracle technical DBA who can analyze and implement database technology infrastructure solutions with minimal supervision required and demonstrate the technical capability to resolve technical issues quickly.
  • The ability to collaborate well with your team members and influence your technology peers
  • Demonstrate the ability to learn new technologies and communicate the business value of a new technology solution
  • Proficiency in RDBMS technologies like Oracle, Postgres databases & Snowflake
  • Exposure in Data Virtualization technologies like Delphix will be added advantage
  • Relevant understanding of DevOps tools such as Jenkins, uDeploy, Concourse, Liquibase and Datadog
  • Data and Database migrations to suitable Data Storage (RDS, Aurora PostGreSQL)
  • Managing databases in Cloud and Provisioned systems
  • Having knowledge in NoSQL databases like Cassandra and DynamoDB
  • Knowledge with cloud-computing / cloud services platforms (e.g. AWS or Azure)
  • Having knowledge with CI/CD tools and implementing pipelines
  • Proficient social skills with an ability to clearly articulate to both technical and non-technical partners
  • Experience in Agile practices like Scrum/Kanban

The Expertise we’re looking for

  • Bachelor’s degree in Computer science or any other subject area
  • 3+ Demonstrable experience in DBA and Cloud technology role
  • Having AWS Certifications would be an advantage
