Job Description:

Job Title – Software Engineer – Data Modeler

As a Software Engineer, team member for the WI Data Engineering data modeling group driving a spirit of innovation and data strategy and building and improving the data modeling practice.

The Purpose of This Role

Design and develop by working closely with the business and technical teams and create or assist in the creation of scalable, flexible and well documented data models that will enhance the WI product offerings and speed time to market.

As a Data Modeler, you will be responsible for

  • Expert in Data modeling (Conceptual, Logical, Physical, 3nF, Dimensional) at both a project and enterprise level

  • Expert in Data Analysis

  • Understanding of principles and standard methodologies around Data Architecture.

  • General working knowledge of Big Data technologies, techniques, and trends

  • SQL (ideally ANSI SQL)

  • Provide solutions that deliver business value

  • Resolve issues in production and non-production environment and perform troubleshooting.

  • Expertise in a Data Modeling Tool such as Power designer, Oracle Designer or Erwin

The Skills that are Good To Have for this role

  • Partner with project teams, vendors, support organizations, functional architects, systems specialists and other technical resources to gather information requirements and deliver data modeling solutions for WI Business and technology functions.

  • Improve the overall analysis of business requirements and delivering well architected and efficient physical database designs that reduce time to market for making design decisions

  • Assist in developing guidelines and standards for the data modeling checklist, governance process and for cataloging and maintaining data repositories.

  • Help to drive conformance to the WI data strategy.

  • Bring industry thought leadership to WI Technology.

  • Have worked in Agile methodologies or iterative development processes

  • You are passionate about data and technology and have experience with or an interest in Data and/or the consumer experience.

  • You are self-driven, highly motivated and a quick learner.

  • You should have an analytical and consulting mindset- being fearless in asking engaging questions to help tease out requirements details and technical implementation options often from more senior team members and customers.

  • Excellent verbal and written communications skills.

The Expertise We’re Looking For

  • 2 to 4 years of IT experience

  • Bachelor degree in Computer science or any other discipline

Location:            Bangalore

Shift timings:     11:30 am – 8:00pm
